My client, a rapidly growing global travel tech company, is seeking a Senior Data Engineering Manager to lead their Data Engineering team within the Business Intelligence department. With a diverse team of 500+ professionals from 60+ nations, they serve over 20k hosts and 100 million website users annually.
Tasks:
- Lead and develop a high-performing cross-functional Data Engineering team
- Create, maintain, and refine core data pipeline tools, including Data Warehouse and Data Lake
- Implement a DataMesh-based approach for data-driven applications
- Drive strategic technology decisions and manage cloud budget
- Collaborate with C-suite executives, product leaders, and external partners
- Mentor engineers and participate in hiring processes
- Oversee tech stack including:
- Java/Kotlin microservices on AWS-hosted Kubernetes (EKS)
- Airflow, dbt-core, Redshift, Athena, and DuckDB for data pipelines
- Serverless Framework with Python for data lake interactions
- Terraform, Docker, Jenkins for DevOps
- ELK, Grafana, Looker for monitoring
Your Profile:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- Proven experience with Lakehouse architectures in AWS or similar setups
- Strong technical leadership and people management skills
- Experience with Java, Kubernetes, Airflow, Redshift, and serverless architectures
- Dedication to code and data reliability and quality
